How a Sri Lankan got her life together using a Daily Planner

One of the most common problems I've had is to watch my days just slip away, even though I was busy the whole time. Where does all the time go?
Sri Lankan traffic, work stress, unexpected errands and the constant pinging of my phone. All of this together just created so much chaos, chaos that I could not define. This led me into daily planning. I use the Daily Planner to plan out my day, the most important tasks are listed and completed. Now, everything else is secondary and my priorities are in line.
A daily planner is crucial, it is not just a notebook but a structure for your brain. Studies show that writing down your tasks can increase completion of those tasks by 40% compared to just noting them down mentally (Matthews, 2015). It also helps reduce cognitive overload and significantly lower stress and anxiety levels throughout the day (Chai et al., 2018; APA, 2013).
A daily planner will help you create a system that makes you feel more focused, intentional and in charge.
When we designed the daily planner, we focused on 3 key things that made it the best in our view ;
- Simplified design - no over complications and easy to use.
- Motivated design - Inspire actions with daily affirmations and space to reflect.
- Adaptable design - Works whether you are a 9-to-5 employee, freelancer, or student.
Now for the fun part, Here's how I used the daily planner to make my days more productive
- I wrote down 5 key tasks for the day, these were non-negotiables. All the tasks with no specific timeline, I tried my best to finish them as soon as possible and cross them off the list.
- This helped me leave some buffer time for the unexpected things that happen in Sri Lanka, truly the land of the unexpected. You never know when you'll have a power cut.
- At the end of the day, I would jot down what I did and how I am feeling, every day that I completed all my tasks, I felt so good at the end of the day. This is what I could achieve with the daily planner, feeling good while living intentionally.
Over 1000 Sri Lankans have bought this particular daily planner.
So far, we have built a community of people using the daily planner, sometimes when we go to an office or a cafe, there's always someone with the daily planner. From undergraduates to entrepreneurs, people are choosing to be intentional about their time, their goals, and their growth.
